Golden Age

Once I was happy

Oh ignorant I -

It seemed I could do no wrong

Foolish temper

Time passed me by

I finally found out I just don’t belong

Fresh to the eye

Inside, bitter and rotten

The poison is deep while the pleasure is small

Though my story

Is sooner forgotten

It’s a story that plays out for one and for all

They say that the golden age will return

They say that the buildings and cities will burn

They say that crops will grow forth from blood stain

But I will remain

Oh I will remain

“A curse,” the man said

“On you who now follow

“Your fate on this wearisome road

“Turn your back

“Or share in my sorrow

“To stand in a desert where water once flowed.”

They say that the golden age will return

They say that the buildings and cities will burn

They say that crops will grow forth from blood stain

But I will remain

Oh I will remain

Don’t come looking around just for my advice

Cuz I told you twice

You’re better off rolling the dice than following me

If I’ve learned anything it’s to hold my tongue

I have just begun

To open up my eyes

And learn to see

Once I was carefree

Oh, innocent eyes

I knew I could do no wrong

Ask no questions

I’ll tell you no lies

Share in the joy of my innocent song
